Hungary introduces the new digital nomad visa

by | Feb 17, 2022 13:34

Hungary introduces a new “White card”. This is a one-year authorization for digital nomads or remote workers. This applies to those want to work for a foreign business or for overseas clients while living in Hungary.

Applicants must earn at least 2000 Euros per month to be eligible for this visa. They must have received this income in the six months leading up to the application. Plus, the time applies throughout the person is on the visa.

However, every applicant submits their tax differently, depending on the nation of origin. Consequently, it is unclear how the Hungarian government will keep track of this.

Applicants must show that they have a role in a foreign company through an employment contract. A second option is to produce a certificate of incorporation if they own a foreign company. They must also show proof of lodging in Hungary, as well as travel tickets and health insurance. The application will cost roughly 110 Euros and take around 30 days to process.
