The UK government has made a number of visas available to Ukrainian nationals.

Depending on the individual’s circumstances, the following visas are available:

Ukrainian citizens with family in the United Kingdom: Ukraine Family Scheme

Ukrainian nationals with no family in the UK: Ukraine’s Local Sponsorship Scheme

Ukraine Family Plan

The UK Family Scheme visa is valid for up to three years and is completely free to apply for.

You can apply for a visa under the Ukraine Family Scheme if you are:

  • visiting or accompanying a family member who lives in the United Kingdom.
  • a Ukrainian national or a member of the immediate family of a Ukrainian national applying under this family scheme.
  • a resident of Ukraine on or before January 1, 2022.

One of your British relatives must be one of the following:

  • British or residing in the United Kingdom

Someone with pre-settled status from the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or Switzerland who arrived in the UK before January 1, 2021.

  • A person in the UK who has refugee status or humanitarian protection.
  • An immediate family member, such as a spouse, an extended family member, such as a grandparent. An immediate family member of a grandparent, such as a sibling’s spouse.

If you’re unsure whether a member of your family can be used for the application, consult the list of accepted family members.

You’ll need to provide proof of your relationship with a British family member. You can make visa applications at Visa Application Centers in Budapest, Chisinau, Warsaw, Bucharest, and Paris, if it is safe to do so.

Ukraine’s Local Sponsorship Program

Ukraine nationals fleeing Ukraine who have no family members or ties to the UK can apply for the Local Sponsorship Scheme.

This visa enables charities, businesses, and community groups to sponsor Ukrainians who do not already have family ties in the UK. Ukrainian nationals will match with sponsors through the sponsor scheme.
