On 27th of September, a new tourism visa has been launched by Saudi Arabia, beyond the one granted for religious purposes. The aim of this legal change, which is to reduce the kingdom’s reliance on oil, has to do with an economic reform plan introduced by Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader.

Therefore, the new e-visa program set into place will allow people (over 18) from 49 states to visit the country. Visas will have a one year validity and either a single or multiple entry option, enabling the visitors to stay for up to 90 days.

The application can be made online on visa.visitsaudi.com before the trip or upon arrival through visa kiosks. The visa fee is 117 dollars and includes a health insurance – however, please check locally how exactly this is applied as it might be different from one country to another.

The tourists will have to be respectful to the conservative features of Saudi Arabia and they are encouraged to visit several UNESCO sites such as the At-Turaif District in Ad-Diriyah or Mada’in Saleh in Al-Ula. According to the provided info, the Kingdom is determined to create top-notch tourist-friendly infrastructure in order to become a first-class destination. On 27th of September, a new tourism visa has been launched by Saudi Arabia, beyond the one granted for religious purposes.
